Jim Horton Bio

Jim Horton, an artist and native of North Carolina, works in a Romantic Modern Realistic Style with a theatrical quality.  His work is bold with direct statements, playing strong contrast between darks and lights, giving close attention to lighting and the effects of lighting.  The focal point pulls the viewer into the art then the viewer's eyes drift around the piece as he is lead by the designs, shapes and color.  Mr. Horton's palette in painting is a full range of brilliant colors.

His background has been senior art director for several major advertising agencies in chicago, Illinois, as well as art instructor for colleges in illinois and North Carolina.  He is now  retired from the commercial art field and dedicates his time to the fine arts produced in his studio.  His large collection of Mediterranean paintings are inspired by the photographes he has taken during his travels to Europe.  He has paintings and sculpture in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada.
